Raw Chocolate Brownies
my gorgeous friend, regina, is at it again. this time, raw chocolate brownies.
Raw brownies. Need I say more? I don’t know what took me so long! Not only are these raw brownies easy to make, they taste amazing and surprisingly very much like real brownies. They are deliciously gooey in texture with a rich taste of chocolate. Even my husband (who, by the way, is a major dessert snob) raves about them! Ha.
On top of that these raw brownies are vegan, paleo friendly as well as gluten and dairy free. They are the perfect way to naturally satisfy a sweet tooth and you can make them as large or small as you prefer. I personally like to do smaller bite sized brownie squares so I don’t go overboard.
about the ingredients…
Raw cacao is such a delicious and healthy way to add a rich chocolate taste to anything – be it smoothies, baked/raw cakes & sweets. It is, in my opinion, a vastly underestimated ingredient that is so versatile, delicious and full of beneficial antioxidants. The potent antioxidant activity comes from all the flavonoids found in the raw cacao bean, which naturally act as antioxidants that protect our body cells from ageing and various different diseases. Research from Cornell University in the US recently discovered that raw cacao contains nearly twice the antioxidant content of red wine, and up to three times the antioxidant content of green tea – classifying it as one of the top natural antioxidant food sources!
